Cultivating Community, Incubating the Next Generation of Caribbean Leaders
purpose
EmpowerU is an incubator for the Sint Maarten Diaspora. Based on community action, EmpowerU supports Sint Maarten students and young professionals scholarships and through fostering spaces for connection, learning, and support - no matter if pursing further education, launching a community project or growing your career.
our approach to
philanthropy
Our approach to philanthropy is simple:
invest in people, and the returns compound.
Sint Maarten is small, but its citizens are global — scattered across countries, industries, and networks most islands never touch. We see that as leverage, not loss. As a digital-first organization, we can turn our diaspora into an asset: connecting talent across borders and putting global citizenship to work for a local community.
Every investment we make, in a scholar, a leader, a creative, is an investment in Sint Maarten staying visible and vital as the world moves forward. This isn't charity. It's how we preserve our culture, sustain our community, and make sure Caribbean talent gets the recognition and resources it's always deserved.

Becoming a Better Ancestor is live!
What does it mean to build something worth inheriting?
Becoming a Better Ancestor is an open source video series for Sint Maarten's community — and everyone in the diaspora still asking that question. Season 1 covers the conversations formal education skips: mental health, community care, how to learn, and where your money mindset comes from.
